As the first city in history to suffer a nuclear attack, the date - 6th August, 1945 - will forever be engraved on the memory of Hiroshima. A city almost entirely wiped out in the space of a few seconds, post-atomic fears predicted that not a single blade of grass would grow for more than a hundred years after the attack. 68 years on, the tireless efforts and tenacity of its citizens mean that modern-day Hiroshima is a booming region of art, culture, economics and government.
